Room 23: Assembly leaders

In the last two weeks we have been very busy organising, practising and then running both our Whanau assembly and the Junior School Assembly.
Last week on Wednesday we led our Whanau Totara Assembly.  We all took turns announcing what would happen and leading the songs.  We shared the song we have learnt in class: Le Aute.  This is a beautiful Samoan song about the flowers people from Samoa like to wear behind their ear.  Here is a link to the music so you can learn it at home:

Then on Monday this week we ran the Junior School Assembly.  This is for all classes from Year 0-3.  Some of our families took time off work and came to watch us.  Jakob opened the assembly by sharing his mihi with everyone.

Natalie was so proud of how confident everyone was - even some people who were a bit nervous enjoyed having a turn speaking on the microphone!  The other teachers and classes were very impressed at what a great job we did.
